Brides The Show September 2016

Author - Gemma Brittain

Every season the UKs Best selling Bridal Magazine 'Brides' showcase a weekend of indulgence to bring your wedding planning to life. It's an inspired day out at Brides the show which exhibits the very best of bridal experts to get those creative juices flowing.

brides the show

A busy, fun filled day out at Brides the show came to us on Saturday 30th September. Andrew and I arrived in Islington, London to an archway of orange and peach balloons, wedding cars and a sea of excited brides-to-be. We entered into the show via the red carpet for a obligatory selfie against the brides back drop (it had to be done) and then into the hall, where we were welcomed by the most spectacular display of premium wedding cakes.

Amazing Cakes

These cakes were stunning pieces of art, from a unicorn, a life size wedding dress and our favourite; the Flying cake by Peboryon had all the visitors to the show in awe. Everyone was trying to find out its secret. Serving 300 people this cake comes at a price of £4,200 (this also included a body-guard so your guests can't find out what makes the magic of the cake work) Other creations came from Tattooed Bakers, Peggy Porschen and Tier by Tier which were true show stoppers.

Welcome to the Circus

A selection of bridal designers were showcased on this years catwalk. The stunning show exhibited the drama of bridal gowns, grooms attire and flower girl style with a backdrop of a 1930s travelling circus. Such a creative way to bring these collections to life. Our favourites include Charlie Brear, Suzanne Neville, Halfpenny London, Hermione De Paula and Ruth Milliam to name a few.

Bridesmaid Chic

As well as bridal gowns, there were also bridesmaids brands to see. Two birds and Maids to Measure being the most dominant and recognisable at the show.
A new comer and one to watch for 2017 is Rewritten. Their beautiful dresses give a simplistic silhouettes with a contemporary style. The launch collection from Rewritten features five signature styles, each available in one of four colours, all beautifully hand crafted and delicately finished.

Little Ones

Brides the Show had a good choice of children's fashion. The little ones in your wedding party also need to look their best.
One of our favourites Wild and gorgeous has recently been re branded from the earlier name of ‘I love gorgeous’. The range now showcases boys and girls fashion as well as occasionwear, which has a premium feel with luxe fabrications and has real attention to detail. Neutral tones are key but we love the vibrant red and bottle green that brought depth of colour to the range.
Nicki Macfarlane also stood out for us as a key supplier to bridesmaids, flower girls and page boys. Their fabrics and details are more traditional but with stunning printed florals and textures their collections still have a classic yet modern feel. The styling is age appropriate and all of their designs are exquisite. Over the years the success of Nicki Macfarlane has brought them clients which include many celebrity brides, most notably TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Dessert Tables

Immaculate confections brought to us by Natalie Porter has shown us that the trend for a wedding dessert table is still really key. They specialises in creating high quality, custom cakes that taste as good as they look. We are total cake fiends at Angelia and this was by far one of our favourite dessert displays of the day. There were chocolate cakes in the shape of apples, individual rose cupcakes and some dressed up as popcorn. The creativity just astounds us, truly amazing.

Floristry Grandeur

A key trend coming through is floral garlands, wall and cascading decorations are important for the season. Throughout the show floral dressings were used across many exhibitors. They were showcased as typical centre pieces as well as to add scale and grandeur to wedding interiors. The use of floristry can really make an impact and these were some of our favourites.
