There are so many wedding fairs out there these days so how do you choose which one is right for you? It can be so overwhelming when entering a huge exhibition hall full of hundreds of brands with wedding companies eager for your attention! We prefer smaller fairs and our favourite is Most Curious.

This is the wedding fair for the couple who wants something a little more than an off the rack wedding day. A smaller yet vibrant affair full of exciting independent bridal brands exhibiting to bring you an inspired and a unique take on any wedding day. For the style savvy and free spirited couple.

We have arrived!

Most Curious Wedding Fair Shows Trend

On a chilly Saturday morning in Brixton, London we join a queue outside the Old Truman Brewery venue ready for the day of wedding inspiration ahead. The venue is an old warehouse which has been renovated into modern exhibition space, a blank canvas for all of the exciting things we are about to see. Most Curious had decorated the windows full of colourful pink balloons and inside the most amazing neon sign "Love Trumps Hate", we couldn't wait to get in there and get started.

The Catwalk

We headed straight to the catwalk as soon as we got into the show, we wanted to make sure we had the best spot.
A wide selection of bridal and bridesmaid gowns were showcased on the day. This is a catwalk unlike any other wedding fair. There were no ball gowns or diamante tiaras in sight, Most Curious is for the couple who want that something different and for the brides who want to go for a statement look. Our favourites from the first show included gowns by Rosa Bloom, Beyond Burlesque, Velvet Johnstone, Katya Katya Shehurina, Jane Bowler bridal and Rewritten and were all presented on a stunning floral embellished pink catwalk.

The key trend of trouser suits, playsuits were in abundance as seen from House of Ollichon. This trend continues from previous seasons showing that it is a contender for a staple silhouette in bridal style. Glitter and sequins are key and were showcased in bold statement outfits from Rosa Bloom.

Stunning Gowns

Other exciting brands that were a real stand out for us were Rue de Siene with their stunning crochet lace gown. The hand crafted, romantic printed bridal gowns and veils from Lorie X Bridal just had us in awe. So much detail had gone into each of the designs, the hand drawn elephants were a stand out piece.
We also loved Lucy Can't Dance. The mixing of guipure lace and dip dye silk to bring that classic gown together with a modern feature.

Grooms Accessories

With only a few stands directed at grooms our favourite stands that really stood out were Man Pin, a small brand specialising in wooden lapel pins that can be used instead of floral button holes and Le Colonel Moutarde, the company that brings the bow tie and pocket square back. Le Colonel Moutarde bring a mix of old and new by using heritage fabrics as well as crazy bold prints, they have an array of styles and fabrics to suit everyone.
Both Man Pin and Le Colonel Moutarde add that extra something to a grooms look to add a modern twist to traditional accessories.

Masquerade

Masks are a key trend and have been coming through over the past few seasons. Using a mask can bring a lovely whimsical touch to your photography. Animalesque and Curious Fair both offer a selection of creative masks and oh my goodness do we love these brands.

We love the quirky animals from Animalesque's beautifully illustrated designs. They give a real bohemian feel with the mix of fabrications and textures.
Curious Fair create luxury masks, headdresses and accessories. The attention to detail on these feathered headpieces are just a piece of art.

Bridal Accessories

Accessories were shown in abundance and there were some stunning original designs, all intricately hand made; the attention to detail is insanely inspired.
Daisy Sheldon is the creator of all things beautifully embroidered. Offering gowns and accessories for every type of bride. This veil really stood out for us, the use of botanical flowers, Contrast colours on the soft pastel ground really shows the key trend for the season.
Clara Francis Jewellery bring us hand beaded necklaces, hair pins and accessories. Created with such attention the detail. From butterflies to jumping birds flowers and feathers these really add a special touch and originality to your bridal look.

Most Curious Cakes

Cake Most Curious Wedding Fair Shows Theme Trend

One of the best parts of attending any wedding fair is to see all of the amazing cake creations, plus you get to try some of the yuminess, which can't be all bad can it. We have selected just a few of our favourites from the day which showcased the reoccurring trends for wedding cakes this season.

Fiona's Cake Boutique used dried and sugared fruit decoration which is a really key trend. The use of flowers and herbs add a botanical theme which is coming through a lot on the cake scene.
Lucie Bennett's shard chocolate, buttercream with traditional sponge finger overlay was subtle but stunning and decorated with bold colours using real flowers and edible gold leaf leaves.

Natural surfaces such as marble, crystal and gem stones are big trends for cakes and the use of texture is important. Blossom and Crumb created a marble cake with rose gold leaf to add a touch of shine with metallic.
Semi naked cakes are still important and we particularly loved this fruit cake from Frenchmade which brings the theme of Mexico's celebration of The Day of The Dead to life.

There are so many different types of wedding cake out there to choose from. The use of decoration on and around your cake can add to a wedding theme, so think about this when deciding on what your cake might look like.

Table Settings

Texture, Texture, Texture is the key this season and it continues onto the tables. Bringing the outside inside and creating a luxurious feel using delicate fabrics. Within this a huge trend for table settings, center pieces and place names is using natural materials such as marble, gemstones, natural fabrics and foliage.

Bloom and Burn showcased a stunning table setting using natural table cloths mixed with silk ribbons and natural glass. The beautiful hand embroidered napkins added a feminine touch.
The Golden Letter create stunning place settings as well as stationery. Our favourite piece was the cut agate discs with gold leaf edging. A really lovely keepsake for you and your guests.
The display from Pompom Blossom was to die for. The use of hand dyed silks and paper were just gorgeous and presented alongside beautiful cut glass goblets and rose gold cutlery.

Is Most Curious for you?

We really enjoyed our day out at Most Curious and felt that the show really promoted new and exciting wedding brands and suppliers. If you are looking for something a little more quirky with an edge of difference we would definitely recommend a visit to inspire you for your big day.
